Groups

About

There are three different child group classes for Summer 2023, led by a trained pediatric occupational therapist! Your child will join peers of similar age and skill set in order to continue learning with friends over the summer. Choose your group, based on which skills you would like to target: coordination/movement, emotional regulation, or sensory engagement. All groups place an emphasis on FUN and have activities to implement at home, beyond the group meetings. Recommend attending all classes of the series in order to create stronger bonds with peers and gain the most that the series has to offer!

Emotion Explorers

Your child will develop social skills and emotional regulation tools (including tangible tools that you can implement at home and school!) through collaborating with peers. We will use preferred play schemes (dinosaurs, ninjas, princesses, outer space -- whatever the group decides!) in order to implement social and emotional skills in a fun environment.

Mighty Movers

A wide range of children benefit from this group. If you feel that your child is described by any of the following, Mighty Movers is the perfect class:

  • Needs additional practice with strength and coordination

  • Benefits from a more supportive and accepting environment (e.g. smaller group of kids, therapist guided)

  • Is constantly wanting to move

We meet your child where they are at and help them build the confidence to be themselves, in their own body, so that they can thrive during play with peers.

Sensory Squad

Did you know there are 8 senses housed in our central nervous system? When we efficiently process all of these senses, we are able to operate at our highest potential -- whether its learning, moving, or interacting with others. In this class series, your child will explore all 8 systems through sensory and/or movement based activities. The vestibular system? Our group will play and incorporate running, rolling, swinging, sliding, and more! The visual system? Try navigate through a dark room (outer space!) with different colored flash lights. The tactile system? Get ready for some messy play. All activities are presented and encouraged for children to participate, but never forced. We meet the child where they are at and always make it FUN. You will also receive a brief sensory description about your child, and which activities at home/school are best for them, at the end of the series.
